Committed to the investigation of social reality, Sara Montani (born in 1951) makes use of several expressive languages: original print, painting and sculpture, photography, installations and video, theater and shadows are the languages of her research, often dedicated to social issues. She prefers to deepen thematic projects, transferring personal experience within her works. Trained at the Liceo artistico and the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera, in Milan, she has been exhibiting since 1970. She is invited to exhibitions and events in prestigious places, including the Bibliotheca Alexandrina of Egypt; the 54th International Art Exhibition of the Venice Biennale, Turin; the XXI Triennial of engraving, Milan; the International Press Congress, Power in print, Washington DC; the Silesian Museum of Katowice, Poland; the 4 Global Print 2019 and 5 Global Print 2020 in Portugal.
He receives awards and mentions, including the Arte Mondadori Prize and the Sculpture Prize in Spinetoli (AP). His works are included in collections of public and private institutions in Italy, France, Belgium, England, Romania, Switzerland, Egypt, Germany, China, Dominican Republic, Japan, United States, Poland, Portugal. Complementary to the artistic activity is the one of cultural operator and trainer that she carries out as president and artistic director of the Cultural Association Livia and Virgilio Montani, dealing with youth training and the curatorship of exhibitions and events of a socio-cultural nature. |
